Two Iconic Defenders of New York Teaming Up for Second Time in New Crossover Comic
The best kind of crossover is the type that you didn’t know you wanted. In 2014, two iconic defenders of New York found themselves working together to stop a supernatural threat. Everyone’s favorite heroes in a half-shell, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, accidentally teleported themselves across dimensions into the world of the Ghostbusters, releasing a powerful immortal who wanted to control Earth. The two teams worked together to take down the evil Chi-You, but now, IDW Publishing is bringing the teams back together for a second adventure through the world of the supernatural.
This second crossover series will see the turtles trapped in a ghost dimension by an old adversary. Thankfully, the Ghostbusters will be able to answer the call for help and rescue the heroes in a half-shell and take on the new threat together. Writers Erik Burnham and Tom Waltz are back to take on this crossover series and will be joined by lead artist Dan Schoening, whose style has come to characterize the very look and feel of Ghostbusters comics. Pablo Tunica, Tadd Galusha, Mark Torres, and C.P. Wilson III, all of whom have impressive credentials with TMNT, will also be helping with the project. As Burnham explained during IDW’s panel at SDCC 2017, the team is excited to be working on a second crossover for the two iconic defenders of New York:
I had such a blast working on the first crossover with Tom, and in the years since, we’ve talked about what we might do if we ever got a crack at a sequel. When the opportunity came up, we didn’t even use a single one of those plans! Instead, we grabbed villains from both universes and mixed them together to form the foundation of a fun story that furthers the ongoing stories of both the Turtles and the Ghostbusters. Even better, we get some more one-on-one scenes, allowing their complementary personalities to shine and we’re beyond excited to share!”
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters 2 #1 will hit the shelves November 1st, 2017. Are you ready for a reunion of the two favorite teams from the 80’s?
