Batfleck Responds to Latest Rumors of His “Ushering Out” as Batman

Batfleck

Warner Bros. and DC Comics‘ The Batman has had a whirlwind of ups and downs since its announcement. The most recent rumor circling the future of the Gotham Knight was that of actor Ben Affleck and the possibility of him being “ushered out” of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Batfleck used his time at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con to ease the minds of the fans that were worried the rumors were true.

During the Warner Bros. panel at SDCC, the latest actor to don the cape and cowl took the opportunity to let everyone know that despite the major changes in directing and with the script, Batfleck plans to retain his position as Bruce Wayne/Batman. This of course includes Director Matt Reeves’ planned Bat-trilogy and subsequent Justice League films. During the panel, he stated:

“Let me be very clear, I am the luckiest guy in the world. Batman is the coolest fucking part in any universe. I am so thrilled to do it.”

“With Matt Reeves doing it, I would be an ape on the ground for Matt Reeves, nevermind being Batman. It’s incredible.”

Ben Affleck SDCC 2017

Originally, Affleck was to write, star, and direct in The Batman, but has since stepped down as director, with Matt Reeves taking the Bat by the wings. A script was written by DC’s Geoff Johns and Ben Affleck, but it has recently been scrapped and Reeves plans to “start from scratch”Batfleck stepping down as director and the script getting locked away somewhere deep in Arkham Asylum, fans were worried that the actor would be replaced as the lead role. Judging by his enthusiasm at SDCC, it’s safe to assume he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

While we wait for The Batman, Ben Affleck can be seen brooding and kicking ass later this year in Justice League on November 17. Are you a fan of Batfleck’s portrayal of the Caped Crusader?
