Surprise Ghostbusters PSVR Game Launches – First Trailer Revealed (VIDEO)

Ghostbusters PSVR

If you think Ghostbusters PSVR video games have been in short supply, you needn’t worry any longer. What appears to be a complete surprise, Sony and CreateVR have released Ghostbusters VR: Now Hiring, the virtual reality title you may or may not have been dreaming of. According to the PlayStation Store, you will meet Mooglie, the “live” version of the iconic Ghostbusters symbol. He is voiced by Patton Oswalt, and he will be your guide throughout Firehouse, the first installment of the episodic series. Here is the synopsis:

Your adventure begins outside the firehouse in the streets of New York where Mooglie volunteers to be your guide. As you enter the firehouse, you’ll have the chance to explore Ecto-1, assemble and fire a proton pack, check out the basement where the Ghost Containment Unit lies, play with Slimer and much more! Don’t leave any stone unturned as ghostly surprises await your discovery.”

In a recent interview with io9, franchise co-creator Ivan Reitman expressed disappointment over last summer’s entry into the Ghostbusters-verse. However, he also spoke about creating more content moving forward. “I think Ghostbusters is this wonderful [intellectual property] because it has so many storytelling opportunities. And it’s a particularly good one for VR.” Reitman also mentioned animated and live-action films that are in development. Needless to say, Ghostbusters isn’t leaving anytime soon. At least, it doesn’t seem that Sony Pictures Entertainment’s senior vice president of VR Jake Zim thinks so. On Ghostbusters PSVR video game, he pointed out:

Where we put out chapter one, if people like it and see what they want, then we can add chapter two and keep going. Ghostbusters is so big you can kind of go all over the place.”

Some of you may remember the Ghostbusters VR title of the same name that launched for Android and iOS back in January. The free-to-download but pay-to-play mobile version seems vastly inferior to the PSVR variety. This is understandable considering the PlayStation 4 is more powerful than a mobile phone. The experience, what Now Hiring is being considered, is said to run for about ten minutes, but it has an ending not unlike a cliffhanger. This, more than likely, is to create demand for what comes next in the Ghostbusters VR world. The title can be purchased for $6.99 over on the PlayStation Store.
