God Of War Ragnarok Reveals First Look At Thor

God of War Ragnarok was just one of the many strong points of Sony’s recent PlayStation Showcase event, with the official first look at the game showing off all the hard work Santa Monica Studios has been up to since the release of the title’s predecessor in 2018. While the first game only hinted at the potential for a bout between Kratos and Thor, the new God of War Ragnarok first look trailer basically promised it would happen, though viewers only caught small glimpses of the God of Thunder. Now, the official character design for Thor has been revealed and, as one would expect, he looks very different from the Chris Hemsworth version of the character.

Just hours after the initial reveal of God of War Ragnarok, Santa Monica Studios art director Raf Grassetti took to Twitter to unveil a sizable look at Thor. A large red-bearded man, Thor very much looks the part of a Norse God from the original Norse mythology, though there will undoubtedly be a bit of a culture shock for those that imagine a pretty blond surfer-type dude when they think of Thor. Check him out below:

Though the reveal of Thor is certainly an impactful one, he likely won’t be here to stay. Kratos tends to brutally murder most Gods he comes across, and the God of Thunder likely won’t be much of an exception. Between that and the fact that God of War Norse saga will apparently end with God of War Ragnarok, Thor will probably won’t be much more than a simple footnote like all the other Gods that have failed to put down Kratos over the years.

God of War Ragnarok is now in development for PS4 and PS5.
