Super Bowl 52: DFTG Recaps The Biggest Movie/TV Trailers (VIDEO)

Super Bowl 52

A new week is upon us once again and with that comes the time DFTG recaps the biggest movie and TV trailers of the week. The last seven days provided a few nice teases with Marvel’s Ant-Man sequel seemingly being the most spectacular, but the trailer-pocalypse known as Super Bowl 52 predictably stole the show on that and many fronts. Check out the biggest trailers of the event below.

A Quiet Place

A new teaser for the upcoming horror film A Quiet Place brought the chills to the big game. The unsettling display features real-life couple Emily Blunt and John Kraskinski and their family being absolutely terrorized by… something. We don’t exactly get to see what’s causing all this mayhem, but it’s likely enough to earn an audible “NOPE” from creeped-out viewers. A Quiet Place hits theaters on April 6.

Avengers: Infinity War

Super Bowl 52 gave us adrenaline-fueled action on the gridiron, but also epicness in the form of a new Avengers: Infinity War trailer. Story elements were sparse in the revealed footage, but we do get some nice new shots with Thor and Rocket Raccoon exploring space, Spider-Man launching into the atmosphere, and Captain America gearing up for war with his new replacement shield. For those with quick-pausing reflexes, there’s also a new look at teenage Groot about half-way through the trailer. Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4.

The Cloverfield Paradox

Surprise doesn’t even begin to cover how to describe the reveal of The Cloverfield Paradox. The new film is a suspenseful new entry to the Cloverfield series that began back in 2008. Previously untitled and without any previous marketing or hype, the mysterious prequel film announced its immediate Netflix debut following the widely-seen football event. Taking place in the lonely environment space, footage is gloriously unsettling and warns of a greater doom just beyond the horizon. The Cloverfield Paradox is now streaming on Netflix.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

The nostalgia-fueled Jurassic World is getting a follow-up and it’s stomping into theaters whether we’re ready for it or not. A new trailer brings back the previous film’s likable leads of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard and faces them against a new breed of terrifying dinosaurs. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hits theaters on June 22.

Mission: Impossible: Fallout

When people think of a Mission Impossible movie, only one thing comes to mind: What crazy stunt will Tom Cruise do next? “Many” seems to be the answer in the new action-packed trailer for Mission: Impossible: Fallout. Intercut with an explosive montage of spy intrigue, we also get a look at Henry Cavill sporting his infamous mustache that had to be CGI-removed in last year’s Justice LeagueMission: Impossible: Fallout hits theaters on July 27.

Red Sparrow

Seemingly presenting the Black Widow movie we’ve always wanted (though Marvel says they’re on it), Red Sparrow featured a small teaser during all the footfall hubbub. The footage gives a peek at intense new scenes with Jennifer Lawrence as a member of the titular Russian spy organization, feeling very much like a Bourne-style thriller. Red Sparrow hits theaters on March 2.

Skyscraper

Okay, so Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has seemingly been on a mission to fight everything in existence as of late. San Andreas saw the actor battle earthquakes, Rampage will feature three giant mutant creatures to fight, and the next thing on The Rock’s list of enemies appears to be a burning building in the upcoming Skyscraper. The footage showcased at the big game wasn’t lengthy, but the stakes seem pretty high in literally every respect. Skyscraper hits theaters on July 13.

Westworld  Season 2

SPOILERS! Following the epically violent season one finale for HBO’s Westworld, a new era begins for the series’ robotic inhabitants. To a piano rendition of Kanye West’s “Runaway”, we got a peek at the machine uprising to come, aiming to take Westworld to the ends of the Earth. Westworld season 2 premieres on HBO starting April 22.
