First Venom Trailer Unleashes Tom Hardy’s Inner Demons (VIDEO)

First Venom Trailer

As we’ve learned over the last few months, Sony Pictures is dead-set on bringing their own Marvel universe to the big screen, beginning with the upcoming Spider-Man spin-off Venom. Though the source material says otherwise, the upcoming movie will not feature any references to Spidey or even the Marvel Cinematic Universe, instead creating their own origins for the villainous character. The first Venom trailer has now been released featuring actor Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and it teases his demonic transformation into the alien symbiote.

There isn’t much in terms of an actual, in-person Venom appearance, but what we do get is a few teases of what’s to come. Eddie Brock is featured throughout the footage in intense scenes of action and in the form of a voiceover. Another part of the trailer sees actress Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, a character who famously became the first female Venom in the comics. We also get a brief look at an encapsulated symbiote, but it’s unknown if it’s Venom or perhaps another alien such as Carnage. Check out the trailer below:

While we have yet to see what Venom will officially look like, it’s probably best that he wasn’t revealed so early. This is just a teaser trailer after all and if Sony goes with tradition, we’ll be getting oodles of trailers by the time the movie eventually comes out. It’s probably best to savor what mystery we have in this first Venom trailer while we still have it. Venom will release in theaters on October 5.
