Destiny 2 Cross-Save Feature Arriving Later This Month

Destiny 2

With Bungie’s exit from Activision earlier this year, the team behind Destiny 2 has been making some major changes in the hopes of making the game more accessible and enjoyable for all players. From the amazing new content the title releases to the major changes to the in-game currency and more the game has seen some major improvements in the last few months. Soon, one of the most anticipated additions, cross-saves will make their appearance as well.

Bungie is finally letting players transfer their characters from platform to platform on August 21st. There are a few caveats, however, when opting into the feature players will be asked to choose an account to be their “Active” account. This will give access to the characters on this account and their collections though sadly, special currencies like Silver will only be available on the platform they’re purchased from regardless of what the “active” account is. Sadly, this will only work for players who have purchased Destiny 2 on multiple platforms already. Those who don’t own multiple copies across multiple platforms such as PC and Xbox or Xbox and PlayStation will need to purchase the game again to take advantage of the feature.

While the developers hope that making an “Active” account will be a one time endeavor, there will still be options to change the initial choice as well as add or cancel what accounts are linked for the cross-save feature. Players won’t be able to merge accounts across various platforms but won’t lose their characters if they want to go back to them either. Players will also only be able to be a part of one clan across all linked accounts, though they’ll have access to the perks and progress earned them no matter what platform players choose to use.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, Xbox One, an PlayStation 4. The upcoming feature seems simple enough, however if your looking for a little more information on the subject, a post on the official Bungie website answers some common questions fans might have. Will you be making use of the cross-save feature, swapping between PC and consoles as you go?
