Gears 5 Easter Egg References Former Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aimé

Gears 5

Gears of War titles have always been Microsoft exclusives including The Coalition’s next installment Gears 5. The company has no real connection with Nintendo or former President of the company, Reggie Fils-Aimé, however, that doesn’t mean the company can’t use the iconic figure in the gaming industry as an easter egg in the title.

The Gears 5 achievements list was recently revealed and included an achievement called “My Body is Ready”. This, of course, is in reference to a line used by Reggie back in 2007 during E3 right before he tested out the Wii Fit. The quote has since been used as a reference on multiple occasions in varying capacities such as an achievement for Super Smash Bros. 3DS/ Wii U that requires players to collect all of the custom outfits within the game. The Gears 5 achievement, however, is awarded to players who complete the Boot Camp tutorial, an easy task to finish and awards the user with a cool 5 points to their gamerscore.

The developers are heading to Gamescom on August 19th of this year and are planning to show off a world premiere of the campaign. Reggie replied to a post on Twitter hoping to see the My Body is Ready achievement makes its way into the presentation. The gaming icon also thanked the team for the nod to one of his iconic catchphrases.

Gears 5 is set to release on September 10th for Xbox One and Xbox One X. The game will also be making an appearance on PC through Steam alongside a variety of other Microsoft titles.
