Destiny 2 Annual Pass Goes Free Ahead of Shadowkeep For Forsaken Players

Destiny 2 Annual Pass

Destiny 2 players have had quite an interesting year dealing with the numerous changes that have happened to the multiplayer shooter. After Bungie announced that they would be maintaining sole ownership of the game without Activision, the game began its shift from a paid game to a free-to-play model. The big indicator of the future direction of the game has been the promise of the Shadowkeep expansion, which will bring plenty of new content to the game. Now, ahead of Shadowkeep’s launch, Bungie has made the Destiny 2 annual pass free for Forsaken players.

Bungie announced that the Destiny 2 annual pass has now been made free for Forsaken owners on their official Destiny Twitter account. For those uninitiated, Forsaken has been the new expansion that was made available for Year 2 of Destiny 2, and within the extra purchase required to access Forsaken, there is also additional DLC that can be purchased. Forsaken was originally priced at $40, with the optional annual pass DLC costing another $35, but now both can essentially be purchased for a reduced $25. Those who already had the Forsaken expansion will find the annual pass DLC added to their accounts for free upon the downloading of the game’s latest update.

The Forsaken annual pass includes the following additional DLC: Black Armory, Season of the Drifter and Season of Opulence. It should be noted that the upcoming Shadowkeep expansion coming soon will see the game shift even more in the free-to-play model, with even more premium content available behind a paywall. Still, for those veteran Destiny 2 players who have stuck with the game so far, this is quite a nice gift of good faith to these players in the midst of so many changes to the game. It is delightful to know that on Bungie’s part, these players are not being Forsaken. What do you guys think about the Destiny 2 annual pass going free for Forsaken players?
