Bloodborne First-Person Mod Gets New Gameplay Footage (VIDEO)

Action RPGs such as Dark Souls and Bloodborne have a unique combat experience, from dodge rolling out of the way of enemies’ strikes to finding small windows of opportunity between the onslaught that bosses or smaller foes may pose. Traditionally, souls-like games focus on a third-person perspective, giving players a small edge as they interact with the world. However, some fans might wonder what it would be like to experience that sort of action through the lens of a first-person perspective instead. Thankfully, mods allow fans to experiment with these kinds of concepts to bring a new perspective to an already impressive title. One particular mod brings the first-person perspective to FromSoftware’s Bloodborne.

According to a recent report from Eurogamer, the mod gives players a new headpiece item to wear called the Great One Hat that will enable the first-person perspective. While in first-person, fans will notice the appearance of floating disembodied hands holding the player’s weapon. This feature was customized by Garden of Eyes to ensure the proper animations happen without the weapon obstructing players’ view. The trailer below demonstrates what players can expect from fighting in the first-person mode, including some incredible-looking boss fights.

This new content comes after significant work from modder Zullie the Witch, who previously created first-person mods for FromSoftware games from the original Dark Souls to Dark Souls 3 and even Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. However, when bringing the first-person experience into Bloodborne, Zullie the Witch was aided by another modder, Garden of Eyes, who started on the project after learning the process behind creating Zullie’s Dark Souls 3 first-person mod.

“The First Person mod has a storied history, owing to the fact From Software has barely changed their camera from Demon’s Souls all the way to Sekiro, outside of the black sheep, Dark Souls II,” Zullie the Witch said in a YouTube comment. “In many ways, this is the same mod I created way back in Dark Souls, passed through Dark Souls III and Sekiro, finally snaking its tendrils into Bloodborne.”

“I can’t wait to bring it to Elden Ring too.”

Bloodborne is currently available as a PlayStation 4 exclusive and Garden of Eyes plans to release the upcoming first-person mod through their Patreon page.
