Diablo 4 Rumors Of Announcement Cancellation Debunked By Blizzard

Earlier this week, we reported that rumors of Diablo 4 were planned for BlizzCon 2018. Close sources to Kotaku had reason to believe that at the last minute, Blizzard decided to pull the plug altogether and focus their energy into prioritizing their current plans for this year’s event. It turns out that these words of wisdom were false, maintaining its previous notion as is – a rumor.

The original report revealed “sources” close to Blizzard had plans to reveal the next entry in the Diablo series, a long-awaited sequel since the third game’s release in 2012. To shed light on these unfounded claims, Blizzard co-founder Allen Adham issued a statement to assure fans that secrets were not held from fans. Adham stated:

First off we want to mention that we definitely hear our community. We generally don’t comment on rumors or speculation, but we can say that we didn’t pull any announcements from BlizzCon this year or have plans for other announcements. We do continue to have different teams working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects, and we look forward to announcing when the time is right.”

While there’s little reason doubt in Diablo 4’s current status as developing, Adham confirms there were no plans to reveal it them at this year’s BlizzCon. With that said, it will be sometime before Blizzard decides to reveal any gameplay or screenshots of the upcoming sequel.
