Anthem PvP Might Be A Possibility Post Launch, Says BioWare
From Javelin customization options, narrative direction, gameplay, and overall look and feel, there’s a lot to look forward to in BioWare’s latest intellectual property when it launches next year. Despite Anthem being an open, shared-world experience, there won’t be a PvP feature for the competitive folks out there. At least, not at launch anyway.
During a recent interview with the team over at Comicbook, BioWare’s Mike Gamble lent some insight on the future of PvP in Anthem. Without giving too much away, Gamble doesn’t deny the possibility of studio interest. However, it must “fit” within the overall look and “feel” of the game post-launch. Given the game’s strictly online nature, it certainly fits within the realm of possibility. The idea of player versus player modes have always and remains an attractive feature for online play after all. With that being said, this is BioWare we’re talking about – a studio renown for its world crafting, narrative-driven franchises.
In other words, PvP is a prospective goal, but it’s not the studio’s main focus at this time. Perhaps down the line and maybe with enough demand, BioWare may shift their efforts toward an additional feature after Anthem launches. That’s the great part of online video games, an entirely new mode can be lobbed on if the developers so choose. It won’t be an easy feat however. An add-on as potentially massive as this would require extensive server and play testing. Even if BioWare were to confirm its future in Anthem anytime soon, it likely won’t see the light of day until later down the line.
