Destiny 2: New Light Details Reveal What’s Free And What Isn’t (VIDEO)

Destiny 2

Destiny 2 is changing and will continue to shake things up with the launch of Shadowkeep, making the base game a free-to-play experience. It was a little unclear just what players with the New Light version of the game would have access to, but Bungie has released a new infographic to help sort out just what will be free and what won’t be.

Destiny 2 will be switching to a live-service model like never before, with the lowest tier of the game being the free-to-play New Light version. With Destiny 2: New Light, players will have access to all the content from Year One of the title including the Red War, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind campaigns. Alongside all the Year One Nightfalls, Raids, and Exotics players will also have full access to various seasonal events such as the Dawning, Iron banner, as well as all the weapons and gear they provide. Finally, they’ll be able to enjoy PvP across all the maps the game has to offer including those from newer content.

There will be some things from Year Two also included in the New Light experience such as Gambit, Gambit Prime, The Reckoning, and all of the Black Armory forges. Players will be able to obtain any and all gear acquired through these game modes as well as the Thunderlord, Arbalest, Outbreak Perfected, and Bad Juju exotics. Everything not listed such as the Year Two Strikes, Nightfalls, and Raids will not be available unless players purchase the Forsaken edition of the game. The same goes for any upcoming content in the Shadowkeep expansion arriving very soon.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep will be launching on October 1st for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. This date also marks the day that PC players will be moving from Blizzard’s Battle.net launcher to Steam, and details on how to make this an easy transition for players can be found on the Bungie website. As far as pricing is concerned, Destiny 2: New Light will be free-to-play for everyone who chooses to pick it up. Meanwhile, the Forsaken Complete Edition can be purchased for $25 and the upcoming Shadowkeep Complete Edition will be set at the price of $35.
