Two More Nintendo Mobile Games Reportedly in Development, Includes Zelda and Pokemon

In very recent years, Nintendo has put a large focus on mobile gaming in general. Aside from the dedicated team placed for their consoles, a few applications have already been release including Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Miitomo. Now, a well-established rumor has it that two more Nintendo mobile games will be coming to the mobile market. From the plethora of franchises to choose from, it seems that next on the list is Zelda and more Pokémon.

According to the Wall Street Journal, sources state that the Zelda app is anticipated to launch sometime after the Animal Crossing one so it may very well still be deep in development. However, the before-mentioned app is set to debut by the second half of this year after many delays. Supposedly, Japanese game developing studio DeNA is currently at work on the project. When reached out for a response from WSJ, both companies have declined any invitation.

While it cannot be officially confirmed about what type of gameplay the Zelda mobile game will host, the whole idea of its existence is not unlikely. It wasn’t long ago that company President Tatsumi Kimishima revealed during an investor’s call that their intent is to release 2-3 Nintendo mobile games each year. So, it makes absolute sense to bring one of their most popular franchises to the table. Additionally, another trading card Pokemon game is coming out.

While the market for game applications do not yield the as much as their console and other handheld counterparts, it still brought in approximately 176.4 million USD in revenue by the end of their fiscal year. However, Nintendo is not alone in their pursuit for reaching different audiences and gaining more revenue including Blizzard, NetherRealm Studios for Injustice 2, and the Call of Duty franchise.
