Zelda-Inspired “Triforce” Beer Is The Perfect Tribute To An Iconic Franchise
We’ve been seeing some pretty amazing video game-inspired adult beverages recently, and an Atlanta, Georgia-based brewery is looking to continue on the trend with a new beer that should excite our The Legend of Zelda fans out there. Independent brewery Second Self Beer Company has announced that its latest addition to its lineup of brews is a new Zelda-inspired IPA called “Triforce” due to its three base malts (wheat, oats, and barley) and three types of hops (amarillo, mosaic, and cascade).
Of course, the drink isn’t called Triforce simply because of its use of three hops and malts. All the staff members of Second Self Beer Company are fans of the Legend of Zelda series, one of which is beer architect Jason Santamaria, who professed his love for the series in a recent interview with Gameinformer. “I have played almost all the games in the franchise and just love the mythology of the universe,” Santamaria says. “Because of my love of the game, I’ve always wanted to have a beer with the name Triforce.” Check out the Triforce beer can below, which features Zelda-inspired pixelated artwork in green and while colors, with the words of the triforce in stylized lettering on part of the can.
Unfortunately for those looking to pick up some Triforce beer, the IPA cannot be shipped outside Georgia. Those looking to purchase the beer will have to journey to Atlanta, though it will also be made available in Alabama next month. Here’s the full description of the Triforce IPA via the Second Self website:
A newly imagined IPA from our team. Brewed to embody the sacred relic’s three pieces: POWER, COURAGE, and WISDOM. Triforce is a slightly HAZY IPA brewed with the triforce of malts (oats, wheat and barley) and hops (Mosaic, Amarillo, and Cascade). These combine to create a unique IPA that has the HOPPY aroma and flavor of papaya, mango, and other tropical fruits; with a soft, flavorful mouthfeel to balance this truly inspired beer.”
For those interested in going on an adventure of their own, Second Self is also hosting a scavenger hunt appropriately called “Triforce Quest” that can result in participants winning some pretty cool prizes. Those participating must seek out various Zelda items such as an Ocarina, plush Link and Zelda dolls, and more. The more items found on the list, the greater the rewards.
