Three More Games Arrive in the Latest Backwards Compatibility Update
Once again, more games have arrived in a backwards compatibility update for Xbox One. If you’re unfamiliar with the program, the backwards compatibility list is comprised of Xbox 360 titles that have become playable on the Xbox One, the latest generation of consoles from Microsoft. The library contains a massive games list already and it is growing on a regular basis. This latest update includes three titles, two of which are of the same series: Darksiders, Darksiders 2, and Assassins Creed Revelations.
Darksiders and Darksiders II take up two of the three games released in the latest backwards compatibility update. Both games are role-playing hack and slash titles that follow one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. If you’re familiar with the Christian bible, you’ll recognize the them from the Book of Revelation, though the game’s characters are heavily altered. In Darksiders, players take control of War, accused of bringing about the Apocalypse early when he arrives prematurely. In order to prove his innocence, he is tasked with finding the real culprits under the the eye of The Watcher.
Darksiders II plays out parallel to the first game. This time players follows Death on a personal mission to resurrect humanity and erase War’s supposed crime. In the process, War discovers a greater threat to all of Creation. Once again, the narrative is played out as an action RPG, hack and slash title. Though instead of the mostly linear story of Darksiders, this second title plays out more like an open world game.
The last of the three titles is Assassins Creed Revelations. The last game in the Ezio saga also concludes the tale of Altair. The story follows directly after the events of Brotherhood, after Desmond had been forced to kill Lucy under the control of Juno and he falls into a coma. He’s placed into a safe mode within the Animus called the Black Room so that his mind can recover. Incidentally, he meets Subject 16 who was in the Animus before him. Sixteen explains that the only way for Desmond to fix his broken mind is to relive his ancestors memories until they’ve shown him everything he needs to be shown. This coincidentally is done by reliving Ezio’s life as he travels to Masyaf to rediscover the true purpose of the Assassins like Altair before him.
Players that already own any one of these games or their DLC digitally and physically for the 360 should be able to download and play with no hassle on the Xbox One. If digitally, the games will show up in the game library. If using a physical copy, the disc will need to be inserted to play. Again, the library has over 320 games listed, that’s a pretty good amount of classic Xbox Gaming to be had. If you’d like to see a full list of games, check it out here.
