Xboss Phil Spencer Advocates Game Pass As An Opportunity For Single-Player Games, More
Microsoft recently announced that the Xbox game subscription package named the “Xbox Game Pass” would soon be seeing a new incentive for using their service. Every single 1st-party title that’s come out of Microsoft for the Xbox One, current and to-be-released, will be available to play through the service without paying individually for the game itself. That includes the next Halo, State of Decay 2, Forza, Gears of War, and more the same day as launch! This great news for players who want to try out games such as the upcoming pirate action-adventure title Sea of Thieves or any others they might not play otherwise. In the wake of the announcement, the Division Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, recently took to Twitter to talk about the changes coming to the platform and what this new service means.
According to Spencer, he sees the service being more than a simple game subscription with an incredible value. He believes the new model could open up vast opportunities for creativity, especially within the likes of single-player titles.
I see XGP as both. The value is pretty obvious for some. And the idea of a new model that could open up opportunities for creativity is where I think we'll end up. Especially for SP games. That's what the model has done in TV but it's not an exact analogy.

Spencer explains that the model has drawn the interest of many developers. While at the new model’s start, the Xbox Game Pass will be leading with their own 1st-party titles there may be a chance to see this offer expanded across various other studios. The bold move is worth keeping an eye on, especially as the library continues to grow as time goes on.
We have a lot of interest from studios who want to see how our recent announcement plays out. We'll lead with our 1P but having XGP turn into a model for more studios is our a goal. And @iocat is a travelling machine…

The Xbox Game Pass was already an interesting service, but with the new move to have brand new releases same day available – it’s harder to find a reason to say no to it as a hardcore Xbox fan.
