Latest Star Citizen Video Dives Into The Creation Of The Coil From Squadron 42 (VIDEO)

Latest Star Citizen Video

Cloud Imperium Games has seemingly been crushing it when it comes to the development of their crowdfunded title Star Citizen. With the updates appearing more regularly, the dev team hasn’t been shy about what they’re doing to create what might be one of the most ambitious games in recent history. Sure, the process has seen its fair share of hiccups, but we’re not here to focus on that. Instead, let’s direct our attention to the latest Star Citizen video to be released, which gives fans a closer look at the creation of the Coil.

In the video, appropriately titled “Welcome to the Coil,” the development teams takes us through the steps that went into creating the harsh environment that can be found in the game’s single-player mode, Squadron 42. Using a volumetric technology that was originally developed by DreamWorks Animation, the team has been able to produce something truly stunning for their game. After watching the latest Star Citizen video, there is no denying the work that the crew puts into the title. Check it out below:

The Coil was originally introduced back in December during a Vertical Slice of pre-alpha gameplay that was released. As can be seen above, the area is actually a planet that was destroyed by an explosion. Well, what remains of it, at least. Needless to say, the environment left by the cosmic occurrence is a bit temperamental and nearly as harsh as it gets.

Star Citizen is currently in development for PC, with funding closing in on $180 million raised. No release date is known at this time, but backers are able to play Alpha v3.0. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming news, check out the following:
