Weird West Action RPG Revealed By Devolver Digital (VIDEO)
Another Game Awards have come and gone, and with it, the entire gaming industry was allowed to share a night looking back on the past year, as well as the near future of gaming. There were many unexpected game announcements, ranging from the new Hellblade sequel to a new game based on The Fast and the Furious film series. Devolver Digital has proven recently to be an evergreen presence at significant gaming events throughout the year, and The Game Awards 2019 proved to be no exception. It was there that Devolver Digital unveiled Weird West, their new western-themed action RPG.
Devolver Digital released the Weird West announcement trailer that first aired on The Game Awards 2019 on their official YouTube channel. The game will be the first developed by WolfEye Studios, which was formed earlier this year by Raphael Colantonio and Julien Roby, formerly of Arkane Studios. The two had previously worked on series like Dishonored and Prey, and now their talents are bringing the wild west into the realm of top-down Action RPG’s like XCOM.
The game’s description promises a heavy focus on narrative, with player choices impacting where the story will take the player. It seems that this version of the west will also be inhabited by “fantastical creatures” and “a series of high stakes stories where everything counts and the world reacts to the choices you make.” The game is available for pre-order now for PC on Steam, but it is not known yet if the game will be released on any other platforms. Until then, keep your horses in the back ready to mosey into the Weird West.
