Witcher VR Mod Lets Players Explore Kaer Morhen (VIDEO)
While it once started as a novelty experience, gaming in virtual reality has become a unique way to play games, allowing players to see a game’s events through the view of protagonists. One particular fan of the medium has now decided to help players step into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia with a new Witcher VR mod.
Modder PatrykLoan has taken the liberty of building a mod for the OG Witcher title that revises the title within Unreal Engine 4. The mod only offers a simple experience, allowing players to explore the area of Kaer Morhen, the Witcher stronghold depicted in the game. While it is fairly limited at the moment, the modder has expressed hope to expand on the experience with new maps as well as a fully playable plot sometime down the road. The trailer below does a good job of showcasing the sheer potential of the modder’s project and it’ll be interesting to see just where it goes from here.
The Witcher Virtual Reality mod can be found on NexusMods and supports play through Oculus, HTC, and WMR devices. PatrykLoan mentions in the listing that the mod may work on other VR headsets but expresses that he has been unable to verify whether they will work for sure. With the promise of more maps and functionality down the line, this Witcher VR mod is definitely one to keep an eye on as more updates arrive.
