The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Mods May Be Included In Next-Gen Upgrade

Witcher 3

The modding community is amazing, able to take a variety of titles and add their own flair to them, fix issues that would never have been addressed otherwise, and much more. On occasion, developers take notice of some of these mods and incorporate them into the official versions of the game itself. Now, it’s been revealed that there may be a chance to see some form of mod inclusion into the upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt upgrade for next-gen consoles.

A recent report details an announcement made by Halk Hogan, who created The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project, a mod that swapped out many of the game’s vanilla textures for ones that were highly detailed and still lore-friendly. It seems Hogan received a message from CD Projekt RED concerning “cooperation,” indicating the possibility of Halk Hogan’s mod being used in the upcoming next-gen version of the game. The report also reveals that there was confirmation from CD Projekt RED stating that, “In addition to our own development efforts on the upcoming next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, we are also in talks with creators of various mods for the 2015 release of the game.” That being said, it doesn’t seem as though anything is concrete at the moment, with the company also stating that they currently don’t have any “binding agreements” with any modders at this time.

It would nice to see the inclusion of the modding community in the upcoming revamped title, though there was no mention as to whether or not the molders themselves would be compensated for their work. The next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set to arrive sometime later this year for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/ S.
