New Spider-Man: Miles Morales Gameplay Trailer Revealed (VIDEO)
The day of the big PlayStation 5 event livestream is finally here, and along with news regarding the console’s price and launch date, gamers have been begging for details regarding the exclusive titles coming to the PS5. One such title is Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which excited many upon its announcement back in June despite a confusing status as a continuation of the 2018 Spider-Man game. Still, a game focused on the biracial Miles Morales is an exciting sight to see. Now, Insomniac Games and Sony have finally given fans their first look at Spider-Man: Miles Morales gameplay.
Sony released the Spider-Man: Miles Morales gameplay trailer seen today in their PS5 Showcase event on their official PlayStation YouTube channel. The trailer begins with a suited-up Miles returning to his home to return to civilian clothes and walk around a winter Harlem street festival. It is confirmed that this is his new home, a year after the first game’s events, with his mother facing trouble during an election from The Tinkerer and their nefarious army. Miles, as Spider-Man, ends up staving off a battle between the Tinkerer and some Roxxon soliders on a major bridge, which leads to the usual collateral damage.
The ensuing Spider-Man: Miles Morales gameplay scenes show the player controlling Miles in a similar manner to the first Insomniac Spider-Man game. The same third-person perspective is here, as are the variety of fighting combos and aerial web-based attacks. Different here are a few UI changes, as well as some new abilities unique to Miles, including energy discharges and invisibility skills. Also seen is a QTE sequence in which Miles must save bystanders before portions of the bridge fall into the waters below. While on the surface, the game seems similar to Peter Parker’s game, the influx of more colorful attacks and hip hop soundtrack make it clear, that this is not your grandfather’s Spider-Man. And that’s a web worth holding on to.
