Sonic The Hedgehog Tabletop Game Launches Kickstarter Campaign

Hedgehog Tabletop Game

Given the gradually increasing popularity of Sonic the Hedgehog since the departure of Sega from the hardware market, the company has been making strides to make the Blue Blur’s multimedia franchise presence as diverse as possible. Sonic has starred in many animated series over the years and will be the focus of a new major motion picture that is currently under production. Now, the speedy rodent is hoping to join the world of analog gaming in a new Sonic the Hedgehog tabletop game crowdfunding campaign started by Shinobi 7.

In partnership with Sega, Shinobi 7 created the official listing for their proposed Sonic the Hedgehog: Battle Racers tabletop game on Kickstarter. The focus of the game is for players to play as Sonic, Amy, Tails, Knuckles or Dr. Eggman and race towards the finish line on a course filled with enemies and obstacles.

To complete production of the tabletop, the campaign must reach its $50,000 goal by March 2nd, which at the time of writing this has raised $39,240. If funded, the game will launch with its contents including a profile card and miniature figure for each playable character, the course’s track sections, and all of the cards and tokens needed for the game.

There are also many special extras for Kickstarter supporters. A $50 contribution is the minimum amount needed to obtain a copy of the game, which will come with a Super Sonic figure and profile card making him an extra playable character for the game. One hundred dollar supporters can also receive a copy of the game and that comes with 40 enemy miniatures, and stretch goal extras that are met. The latter may add a token bag, plastic rings, Blaze, Sticks, and Shadow the Hedgehog.

This looks like it would be a nifty addition to any fan’s game and chili dog night. Let us know what you think about this Sonic the Hedgehog tabletop game campaign in the comments below!
