Silent Hill Director Confirms New Games, Including Silent Hill 2 Remake
Ever since Konami made a gradual shift away from console gaming in the past few years, fans have been clamoring for the return of their most popular franchises, especially Metal Gear and Silent Hill. The Silent Hill series has been quite dormant for the past decade, with the last console games in the series being released back in 2012. While there has been some Silent Hill DLC for other horror games over the years, many have wanted to see the series return as its own game. Now, a leader behind the franchise has suggested that more Silent Hill games are in the works, including a Silent Hill 2 remake.
French media source MaG- Movie and Game recently released a new interview that they conducted with Silent Hill movie director Christophe Gans on their official YouTube channel. Gans is very familiar with the inner workings of the Silent Hill franchise, having directed the first Silent Hill movie that was released back in 2006. While it had been rumored before that his main focus in recent years was on a third Silent Hill film, it seems Gans is quite involved with the future of the horror franchise. He disclosed plans for future Silent Hill games, including a Silent Hill 2 remake as follows:
“I’m working with the Silent Team, the original creators at Konami, there are several games in development as we speak, there are several teams on it, with a big line of games, they will revive the franchise, I think they were really impressed of the success of the remakes of Resident Evil that are evidently exceptional games,”
Gans confirms that one of these new games, which will take note from the Resident Evil remakes, will be a Silent Hill 2 remake developed by Layers of Fear studio Bloober Team. He also states that the next new entry in the Silent Hill series will be helmed by much of the original “Team Silent” that worked on the first few Silent Hill games. It was said that Hideo Kojima is not involved with any of these projects, which is somewhat obvious given his cut ties with Konami. While these games are likely years away, this is perhaps the best update that Silent Hill fans could hope for. Maybe the future isn’t as foggy as Silent Hill itself anymore?
