Silent Hill Tweet Excites Fans, Konami Responds With “Easy There”

Silent Hill Tweet

There are many beloved video game franchises that have left their fans eagerly awaiting a new title to this day, and one of the series that has reached peak demand is Silent Hill. The classic horror games are held as some of the best ever in the genre, and recently helped appease patient fans by introducing elements of the series in Dead By Daylight in a new expansion. That said, a recent Silent Hill tweet seemed to excite fans at the potential prospect of a new game being in the works, but it appears that was not the intent.

The Silent Hill tweet in question came last week from the official Konami Twitter account. The tweet gave the description “Close your eyes. Always Scary. Silent Hill 2 siren” and shared a blank screen video that plays the Silent Hill 2 siren sound effect. This cryptic tweet led many fans to believe a new game or remake announcement might be coming soon.

Konami felt it necessary to respond to tweets believing in this theory by saying: “Easy there internet. We were watching streams of Dead By Daylight and thought we would share the noise and feel of being hunted. We wont take the tweet down and “backpedal”, we just wanted you to enjoy it.”

Konami also followed up on this Silent Hill tweet by apologizing and confirming that if any announcement of a new game were to be made, it would be from their dedicated Silent Hill Twitter account. What is interesting to note about this account is that it is not yet official on Twitter (meaning, verified with a blue check mark) and it is only a month old. Some think that it may have been created to announce a new game, perhaps in the coming months for next-gen devices. Whatever it ends up being, at least now we know where to go for confirmation, instead of being left in the foggy draw-distanced streets of social media.
