Resident Evil 2 Remake Leak Hints At Significant Gameplay Changes

Resident Evil 2 Remake Leak

The 20th anniversary for Resident Evil 2 has come and gone, and fans of the title looking forward to the remake have absolutely nothing to show for it, despite teasing from Capcom that suggested news of the remake would be made available to us. Thankfully, a new Resident Evil 2 remake leak has surfaced that may just fill those holes in our hearts, as it reveals some interesting gameplay changes and redesigns that make a lot of sense when considering a remake for the survival horror title.

The Resident Evil 2 remake leak comes to us by way of Jawmuncher on Twitter, who shared a screenshot of a post on 4chan detailing the leak. As always, leaks should be taken with a grain of salt. That said, this is 4chan, so take that grain of salt and multiply it before reading on. The screenshot can be found below:

If the leak is genuine, there is a ton of info to be gleaned here. First and foremost, the leak suggests that the remake will utilize the over the shoulder gameplay perspective from Resident Evil 4. This makes quite a bit of sense, as fixed camera mechanics don’t typically mesh well with modern survival horror titles. The crocodile appears to be making an exit, though most of the other classic moments from the original game appear to still be in.

While the primary focus of the Resident Evil 2 remake is of course survival horror, there will also be plenty of items to find via item twinkles strewn about the RPD and the city. Both the RPD and the city are also being expanded and redesigned, so there should be plenty of goodies to hunt for while running for your lives. As mentioned in the screenshot, there also appears to be a heavier focus on DLC, while also makes sense in this day and age. Hopefully Capcom will come through with some new information regarding the Resident Evil 2 remake, rather than continuing to keep us in the dark.
