Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Not Coming To PlayStation 4

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

The upcoming Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is set to build upon the already incredible world the franchise has delivered with new mechanics, a new story, and even some new characters. The title was announced during the PlayStation 5 reveal event earlier this year as a game that would take advantage of the console’s hardware to bring an incredibly immersive experience like never before. It was never officially confirmed whether or not the title would be coming to the PlayStation 4, though any glimmers of hope for playing the game on the PS4 have just been squashed.

A recent inquiry from a fan spawned a reply from developer Insomniac Games. Very simply put, the developer confirmed that there would be no PlayStation 4 version of the game. Considering the amount of tech that would be necessary for the various visual and audio effects to work within the game like real-time ray tracing, advanced haptic feedback support, and utilizing the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller, it certainly makes a bit of sense that the developers have chosen to go this route.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is expected to arrive within the PlayStation 5 launch window, though no official release date has been revealed quite yet.
