Okami HD Could Be Coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One This Year!

Okami is a critically acclaimed narrative that first made its appearance back in 2006 for the PlayStation 2. The universally hailed title also became available for the Wii and PlayStation 3 – now it appears that an Okami HD remaster may be headed to this generation of consoles for an Xbox One and PlayStation 4 release!

According to Kotaku (take with a grain of salt), there were two separate retail stores in Europe that had the HD remake listed for a December 12th release. Though this particular news source is known for statements that later are proven untrue, it is worth notating that two entirely separate retailers have made this reveal in completely different locations. DFTG has reached out to Capcom for confirmation on this report and will update this piece as soon as we receive a statement.

If you are unfamiliar with this uniquely artistic title, here is the official synopsis from the website – we couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Once upon a time, there was a small village called Kamiki Village, where everyone from the villagers to the animals, lived in peace and happiness. But then one day, the legendary monster Orochi, came back to life and put an evil curse on the entire area. Everything that had a bit of life, disappeared from the face of the earth, and in their place was left a dreadful, barren wasteland.

Orochi’s horrid curse spread all across the land, turning it into a veritable hell on earth, infested with countless monsters roaming the earth. But there was one hope. The majestic, wolf-embodied sun god Amaterasu.

One-hundred years ago, Amaterasu used the godly power of the Celestial Brush, to face Orochi. But their battle consumed them both, causing them to disappear from the world, with Amaterasu losing the thirteen Celestial Brush powers in the process.

Now in the present, Amaterasu stumbles upon a mysterious fairy sprite named Issun, and together they set out on an adventure, as Amaterasu aims to regain the 13 powers of the Celestial brush and defeat Orochi once and for all.”

Capcom has previously told fans that they are invested in future remasters of their classics and Okami is definitely one of their most memorable legacies. We here at DFTG are huge fans of this heroic tale. We’ve even reviewed a gorgous sculpture of Amaterasu, which can be seen right here.
