Oculus Skipping E3 This Year – Their First Absence Since 2014
Each year, the Electronic Entertainment Expo is host to the year’s biggest video game reveals and tech demos. It looks like virtual reality innovator Oculus VR, the company behind the popular Oculus Rift headset, has chosen to take a break from the proceedings and not attend the well-publicised event. A representative (via VentureBeat) confirmed Oculus skipping E3 will be the first time since 2014 that the company does not feature a booth at the expo.
No explanation was given as to why Oculus will be absent from the show floor in 2017, but the VR company’s lack of new hardware may offer up a reason why. Over the past few years, Oculus have been a growing presence at E3, showing off various prototypes of the Rift headset as well as last year’s Touch controllers with much fanfare from our fellow tech geeks. Their acquisition of a few smaller imaging companies in recent years surely points to something new in the works down the line. Oculus skipping E3 this year may just mean the company is hard at work on their next peripheral, or whatever Facebook is whipping up next in the world of VR.
One thing that has been apparent is the abundance of more than a few games making their way to the virtual dimension lately, a number of which that Oculus representative confirms, will be announced among other news later on in the year. When any of those details come forward, check back here at Don’t Feed the Gamers to learn more.
