John Wick Chronicles, the new virtual reality game collaboration from Starbreeze, Grab Games, Big Red Button and Gamecostudios, was just recently announced for a February 9th release date. Coming exclusively to the HTC Vive, the game will take place in canon between the first and second Lionsgate-released films, with John Wick 2 hitting theaters a day after Chronicles hits PC. The tie-in game is now available for preorder on Steam for $19.99, with qualifying purchases including a free copy of Payday 2, a playable John Wick character, and the upcoming themed weapon pack.

Chronicles
allows the player to assume Keanu Reeves’ role of stoic, semi-retired hitman John Wick, and all the gun-fu powers that this premise implies. The game aims to capture the classy assassin world of ‘Wick’ by incorporating the movies’ secret hitman hub, the Continental Hotel. Adding to that immersion is the inclusion of Lance Reddick’s character from the films, Charon the concierge, who guides the player through each part of the hotel’s levels.

In the demo previewed at New York Comic-Con, the player’s mission is to reach the Continental Hotel’s rooftop, take down enemies, and escape via helicopter, before an army’s worth of thugs can wipe out Wick for good. Along the way, the player encounters a monsoon of gunfire from numerous enemies, making for some pretty intense gameplay. Players can see what’s in store for themselves when it hits the HTC Vive later next week.
