Portable Nintendo Switch Video Projector Smashes Crowdfunding Goal On First Day

Nintendo Switch Video Projector OJO

Those looking to play their Nintendo Switch games using a larger format are in luck; a portable Nintendo Switch video projector called OJO just hit its crowdfunding goal on Indiegogo on its first day. Its original goal was set at $30,000 USD, and at the time of writing is sitting at $47,684 raised by 190 backers.  Developed by YesOJO Studio, the ‘world’s first’ Nintendo Switch video projector sports an 854 x 480 image resolution (16:9 aspect ratio), and touts a high quality display range of 30 to 120 inches at 200 lumens. At the time of writing there are still roughly 150 backer slots available for the ‘Super Early Bird’ special, which nets backers an OJO projector and an adapter for $270. Once those are gone, the next available deal for the same items will run the next 500 backers $300.

The size of the projector is only slightly bigger than a regular Switch dock, measuring in at 6.8 x 3.2 x 2.8 inches. The display technology itself utilizes DMD LED projection provided by Texas Instruments. A five-watt speaker is also built into the device, though a 3.5mm audio jack will let you plug in speakers or headphones. In terms of connectivity, the OJO sports a wider range of ports than most projectors. The OJO has two USB 3.0 ports, one of which is Type-C for power input, the other of which can be used for charging the Nintendo Switch. Speaking of charging, the OJO comes with a 20,400 mAh capacity rechargeable battery built in, which will last for 4 hours per charge. The OJO also has an HDMI port, enabling the OJO to be used as a standalone projector for non-Switch devices.

The batch of early units of the OJO are expected to ship sometime in December of this year. So, thoughts on the OJO? Plan on picking one up?
