New Overwatch Map Confirmed – Available to Play Now (VIDEO)
It was very recently that Atlas News, the in-game news source for Overwatch, announced that communication logs were recovered from the Horizon Lunar Colony years after it went offline. This was to get a glimpse into the final days before the gorillas rebelled against their keepers. Of course, this moon base was also where hero Winston was raised, and near the end, he escaped to Earth. Thanks to a new video from the title’s official YouTube channel, we now know that a new Overwatch map is currently being tested in the PTR, with it arriving soon to the live game. Here’s a bit more about it:
Horizon Lunar Colony is an Assault map set in a scientific base on the moon. Built as a first step towards humanity’s renewed exploration of space, the colony’s goal was to examine the effects of prolonged extraterrestrial habitation—on human and ape alike. The scientists’ research proved incredibly promising…until, suddenly, all contact and communications with the base were lost.
Now, many years later, attacking and defending teams must return to the moon and battle for control of the colony’s facilities, all while they discover clues as to the fate of its previous inhabitants.”
In the video provided by Blizzard, fans can see that the new Overwatch map is definitely going to be a look into Winston’s past. Referring to what he left behind when he escaped to the planet below, Winston even says that “they’re still up there. And some day, we’ll have to go back.” With the Anniversary Event still in full swing, this is adding even more awesome content to the mega-popular FPS. You can see all about the new map in the video below:
PC players can try out the new Assault map right now in the Public Test Realm(PTR), while those without access to it will have to wait until Horizon Lunar Colony goes live. There’s been no word as to when the new Overwatch map will be released, but they usually hang around the PTR for a couple weeks beforehand. Maybe we’ll even learn more about Hammond, who also escaped with Winston. Stay tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers to keep in the know.
