Riot Games made Arcane’s official reveal back in 2019 and, since then, die-hard fans of League of Legends and their lore have patiently waited for the official release date. Coming this Fall will be the studio’s first ever series developed for television and they know it’s been a long time coming.

“Arcane was created as a love letter to our players and fans, who have been asking us for more cinematic experiences that dive deeper into the worlds and champions in League of Legends,” said Riot Games‘ Global President of Entertainment, Shauna Spenley. “Netflix, with its incredible global brand and shared goal of delivering premium, high quality content, is the perfect partner to help us bring Arcane to players around the globe.”

Aside from the game itself, Riot Games has invested a number of resources to bring League of Legends to life. From the various album releases and fictional bands, such as Pentakill and K/DA, to their critically-acclaimed animated shorts — they’ve amassed a loyal following. Whether you’re a fan of the MOBA itself, enjoy diving into the different ways the studio expands their universe, or appreciate animated shows in general, Arcane is shaping up to be a must watch.

Director of Original Animation at Netflix, Dominique Bazay, said: “League of Legends has inspired global fervor and fandom and we’re thrilled to be the home of the first television series set in this universe, Arcane. The series promises to be a visually spectacular thrill ride that will have viewers on the edge of their seats.”

Taking place in the utopian region of Piltover and the underground area of Zaun, Arcane follows the story of two iconic League of Legends characters — Jinx and Vi. In partnership with Fortiche Productions, Arcane is set to premiere in Fall 2021. An official release date has not been revealed yet.
