Monster Hunter World Crossover Turns The Handler Into Resident Evil’s Mr. X (VIDEO)
In its time, the Monster Hunter franchise has come together with many others for crossovers featuring new outfits, weapons, and more. Even the latest entry in the series, Monster Hunter World, has had multiple crossovers with titles such as The Witcher 3, Street Fighter V, and more. Now the title is set to see another crossover in the Iceborne expansion.
This time around the Monster Hunter World universe is set to collide with the Resident Evil franchise, with players being able to unlock skins for Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy. Alongside the pair of costumes comes new room items and features, gestures, pendants, and even a Handler skin that turns her into the terrifying Mr. X. The Claire and Leon skin act as new armor sets and provides players with their own unique bonuses and can only be acquired through collecting a type of collectible called S.T.A.R. badges in a new event that will run from November 8th and will run through until November 5th.
In order to begin the quest for gaining these Monster Hunter World x Raccoon City-themed items, players will need to be at least Master Rank 20. Once at the appropriate MR players can take on the event quest called, RE: Return of the Bioweapon that sees players hunting down and defeating a Blackveil Vall Hazak within 50 minutes. Upon doing so and skinning the beast, players are awarded with the S.T.A.R. Badge event item as well as various other items used to craft the Clair and Leon armor sets. While the two are fairly similar, both requiring six S.T.A.R. badges, three Pure Dragon Bloods, and 2 Deathweaver Membranes, the Claire set will require two Vall Hazak Fellwings while the Leon set will need two Shadowpierce Fangs.
The badges will only be available during the event so fans will need to make sure they get on top of putting in the work to collect the required materials before the event is over if they want some of the cool stuff the Raccoon City Collaboration entails. Of course, as they delve into the new event quest, players will come across new mechanics that affect the way the game plays. While they won’t have to worry about their Effluvia Resistance this time around, players can potentially become “infected” throughout the quest, turning their character into a zombified version of their former selves that disables their ability to use healing items and their ability to change their movement speed. On the bright side, by sheathing their weapon, players are able to heal quite rapidly while infected so figuring out just how to balance being infected or not-infected during the event will be key to figuring out how to defeat the Blackveil Vaal Hazak.
