Monster Hunter: Milla Jovovich's 'Captain Artemis' Character Revealed

Earlier this month, Resident Evil veteran Milla Jovovich revealed that her upcoming Monster Hunter movie adaptation had begun filming, while also showing off a first look at her character ‘Captain Artemis’ by way of a makeup progression shot through her Instagram. Now, it appears that she’s ready to share more with the world, as Milla has just provided a sneak peek at her character in full uniform.

The star once again took to Instagram to make the reveal, which was seemingly brought on in order to sooth the concerns of fans that were worried after having seen a rather strangely animated monster from the film earlier this week. Check her out as Captain Artemis below:

“Captain Natalie Artemis. Ranger. Monster Hunter,” Jovovich began. “Just a little peek for all the @monsterhunterworld fans out there who were worried the other day. Here is Captain Artemis wearing a “slinger” on her arm. I will also post a pic at some point of some of the incredible MH weapons we’ve recreated for the film.”

Mentioned above, fans of the Monster Hunter video game series will be excited to know that the iconic ‘slinger’ weapons will be in the movie, likely being used to attract or distract monsters big and small. That aside, as impressive as the slinger looks, Artemis’ armor looks just a smidge too futuristic for the likes of the series, which typically relies on repurposing the components of fallen monsters for weapons and armor. Granted it is certainly possible that this is a movie version of some monster’s body parts, though it is more likely that director Paul W.S. Anderson and the rest of the crew have chosen to skim over this particular part of the games. Here’s hoping we’ll learn more with shooting on the film having officially begun.

So, thoughts on the first look at Captain Artemis? Which monsters from the games are you hoping to see in the film?
