Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Added To Xbox One Backward Compatibility

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Xbox One Backward Compatibility

Following the addition of the original Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare to Xbox One’s backward compatibility program, fans of the popular shooter franchise were likely expecting all that lovely Modern Warfare 2 business to drop next. However, a few months ago saw the surprise inclusion of Modern Warfare 3 to the compatibility list. While MW3 is far from a bad time, players where nonetheless baffled by the noticeable skip and wondered whether MW2 would ever join its new-gen brethren.

Well, it’s better late than never! Microsoft’s Major Nelson has now announced that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is finally compatible with Xbox One, the title going live immediately today. In conjunction with the backward release, Xbox is offering digital copies of of MW2 at a discounted $14.99 USD for Xbox Live Gold members. Whether by disc or digital, this is genuinely exciting for fans waiting to drop back into the Modern Warfare sequel, which even after all these years has remained a multiplayer favorite.

The 2011 game seeing a modern comeback finally completes the holy COD trilogy, but it does beg at least one question: What happened to Modern Warfare 2 Remastered? While unconfirmed, the game was the subject of speculation not too long ago, and even saw a few gameplay details leak. Perhaps it’s possible the game never existed in the first place, but it’s also likely the remaster is being saved for a future release.

On that subject, Call Of Duty is in the midst of hyping up the upcoming Black Ops 4 and the advent of its new battle royale mode Blackout. The main game saw a few betas go live earlier this month, while the latter-mentioned Blackout is seeing its anticipated beta debut in September. There’s also the epic additions to Zombies that fans are clamoring for, which includes one of the craziest iterations of the mode yet.

What do you think?
