Live-Action Anthem Short Film ‘Conviction’ Releases First Teaser (VIDEO)
BioWare is set to release their grand plunge into multiplayer, Anthem, later this month and what’s been shown so far looks to be a pretty promising time. Not only does the title look to offer unobtrusive microtransactions, a fresh array of customization, and all-around solid gameplay, but there also seems to be no shortage of BioWare’s signature brand of engrossing lore.
While much of Anthem’s origins is being relegated to in-game cutscenes and supplemental material, another apparent way the game is getting its story across is through the live-action medium, namely, a gorgeous-looking short film titled ‘Conviction.’ The newly-announced project comes from District 9 and Elysium director Neill Blomkamp, who will harness his stylish sci-fi penchant for a fully-realized look at the backstory behind Anthem. BioWare has shared a first look at the upcoming short film, which can be viewed below.
As this is a teaser, there isn’t much to surmise about the live-action project, but according to EA, Conviction “explores the vast world of BioWare’s Anthem through a new narrative set decades before the beginning of the game. Neill’s live-action short is a chance to see the world of Anthem through a different lens, with stunning locations, new characters, and a new story.”
While the above footage promises a truly cinematic experience, fans won’t have to wait long for the full short film to release. BioWare confirms Conviction will see its debut on February 14th, a day before the game drops early for Origin Access Premiere members. For everyone else, Anthem goes live for everyone else a week later on February 22nd for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
