Now that Mass Effect: Andromeda has finally released, more information and looks into the development process of the game has been coming to light. We recently got a look at some early character animations for the game, which provided some contrast in regards to the animations seen in the final product that caused some controversy among fans for the irksome expressions some players experienced. Now, one of the game’s designers has uploaded several concept art images for the public to see. Of note, two of these images stand out among the others, as they feature a Donald Glover/Childish Gambino photo in place of a Liam Kosta model.

The images can be seen in a gallery on Eidos Montreal’s Presentation Director Eric Bellefeuille’s ArtStation account, which largely consists of designs of the various menus that players would be able to access in the final game. The images are very clearly from early in the production, as some characters are shown with names different from what they would be in the completed project. such as Vetra Nyx being called Vale Nyx and Nakmor Drack referred to as Narmor Drack in these images. Liam Kosta does retain his original name seen in these images, with one visual difference.

The images show what is clearly a photo of famed actor/writer/director/rapper Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, with Liam’s armor and eye visor photoshopped over the original Donald Glover photo. It is not specified in the gallery descriptions, but it could very well be possible that Liam Kosta was meant to be modeled after Donald Glover, as both share many physical features and we even see Kosta shirtless in the game, not unlike Glover has frequently done in his various stage and screen personas. Whether or not this actually was the case with Kosta’s designs, we will get to see Childish Gambino in space adventures as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo anthology film.
