During this year’s Nintendo Direct at E3, it was announced that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity would be receiving an expansion pass bringing all manner of goodies to help players out as they take on higher difficulties and tougher enemies. The announcement arrived with a trailer teasing some of the things that will be available to pick up starting later this month.

The upcoming expansion pass will consist of 2 waves with the first being named Pulse of the Ancients. This particular update will bring a new playable character in the form of a Battle-Tested Guardian, a Sheikah machine created to help in the fight against Calamity Ganon. On top of the new Guardian character are new weapons types as well consisting of a Flail for Link and the Master Cycle for Zelda. The Pulse of the Ancients wave for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will also bring with it a new Apocalyptic difficulty, new challenges in the Royal Ancient Lab, and even some tougher enemy types and variants such as a Giant Chuchu or higher ranking Wizzrobes.

The second wave was also touched on if only briefly, with the name revealed to be Guardian of Remembrance. This wave will bring in new character vignettes, stages, more skills for existing characters, and an expanded roster. There wasn’t much information on the particulars of what’s to come in the second wave but fans are sure to see the developer open up a bit more as it gets closer to release. There will also be a purchase bonus for players in the form of a Prototype Ancient Sword and Prototype Ancient Gear as a costume for Link. Fans can pick up the expansion pass for themselves at the price of $19.99.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, and the first wave of the upcoming expansion pass is set to go live on June 18th of this year with the second wave set to hit sometime this November.
