Hitman Series Developer Announces New IP With Warner Bros.
IO Interactive and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have had a nice partnership working on both Hitman 2 and the Hitman HD Enhanced Collection. Now, it appears that the two will be continuing this partnership with a new game that won’t be focusing on Agent 47.
Aside from the actual announcement, there are very few details on what the game will actually consist of. While it has been previously reported that a new Hitman title is in the works, this mysterious new project will seemingly taking a step back from the world of Agent 47 to focus on something different. A recent statement from IO Interactive’s CEO Hakan Abrak hints that the project will be a part of a “new universe” though what that means at this point is unclear.
IO Interactive has a proud history of creating compelling characters and universes for our players to enjoy—it’s in our DNA. As we embark on this exciting project to create a new universe for IOI together with Warner Bros., we’re currently looking for ambitious talent to join our team in our Copenhagen and Malmö studios for this extraordinary journey.”
IO Interactive seems to have their hands full with plenty of exciting new things, and it’ll be interesting to see what this new project has to offer fans. Will it at least be somewhat similar to the Hitman franchise or will it be something completely different?
There’s no word yet on when the game will be released or even a confirmation of what platforms players will be able to get it on. In the meantime, however, Hitman 2 will have a whole host of new Halloween themed content coming throughout the month of October for fans to dive into.
