God Of War Studio Has Unannounced Project In The Works

God of War Studio

As Sony continues the start of its newest console generation with the PlayStation 5, both the company and the platform’s fans look to the big future games set to arrive for the console. Among the list of first-party and/or exclusive titles confirmed for the PS5 include Horizon: Forbidden West, a new Ratchet & Clank game, and what many now refer to as God of War: Ragnarok. That last title is being developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Santa Monica Studio, which is supposedly hard at work on the title. However, a new job listing by the God of War studio indicates they have another title in the works.

Sony Santa Monica recently shared the new job listing on their official Twitter account. The God of War studio is looking for a new art director with at least 10 years of 3D video game development experience and at least one major AAA video game shipped under their leadership. However, SIE Santa Monica is quick to point out that this project will, in fact, not be God of War: Ragnarok, but a brand new project entirely. Further description of the position is given as follows:

The Art Director is an industry veteran and craft expert. They have practical experience in defining and maintaining a world-class artistic vision to support the overall game vision with a proven execution to ship. They will coordinate large teams of artists across multiple subject areas to execute on the creative promise for a large-scale new project. The ideal candidate has been in a Senior/Lead role on multiple titles and is able to bring to bear their expertise in content creation, collaboration, and communication to craft immersive and engaging player experiences.”

In addition. the listing also describes the God of War studio’s “genre-defining” games, which seems like SIE Santa Monica has a very precise genre and vision in mind for this and its other projects. Further mention of an “ambitious vision” in the description also suggests this might be a major title worthy of standing alongside God of War. While little else is known about this mystery project, it might likely be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, given how early days the project appears to be. Whatever this new game ends up being, SIE Santa Monica has proven their quality work in the past, and this new game will surely make them a proud father like Kratos.
