Gears 4’s Largest Update Yet Brings New Difficulties, Maps, and More (VIDEO)
The Coalition, developer of Gears of War 4, have been adding in new content at a consistent pace since launch from new maps and gear, to tweaks to the game itself. The next update coming however is going to be Gears 4’s largest update yet including new skills, map remakes, and new difficulties.
Dubbed the Rise of the Horde update, The Coalition will introduce two new difficulties to the game called Inconceivable and Ironman to the campaign, as well as the Horde mode multiplayer bringing with them 20 new achievements to unlock. The Inconceivable difficulty hits players with less health. In the multiplayer, enemies will be stronger but in the campaign they will have less health. This difficulty is a test of endurance and requires precision over anything, ammo will be sparse so being effective in killing your enemies is crucial. The Ironman difficulty forces players to stay alive, or lose all progress and start over from the beginning – both in the campaign and Horde mode. Also included in the update are 2 map remakes which means: Avalanche from Gears of War 2 and Rust Lung from Gears of War 3.
As hinted in the name for the update, most of the update revolves around the game’s Horde mode. With new difficulties comes new skills and gear to combat the elevated challenges. The update brings with it new loot drops and a total of 15 new Horde skills or 3 skills per class. Any existing skills can now be raised to level 6 once the update goes live. Players with a season pass will receive a gear pack containing 5 of the new skills and a bonus Horde Expert pack.
For those who want to try out the game before buying it, there will be a 10 hour free trial which can be started between June 9th and June 15th. Players can experience the campaign through the first act of the game as well as the Horde and PvP modes of the game, which includes the Rise of the Horde Update.
