New Dauntless Trailer Offers an Inside Look at Armor Sets and Extended Combat (VIDEO)

A brand new Dauntless trailer “Forging a Legend” offers an inside look at armor sets, extended combat against an giant snow owl called a Skraev, and the hub city players will gather at between quests. According to a PC Gamer exclusive, the new video also gives players a closer peek into combat with a fire-based behemoth called an Emerbmane. While providing a tunnel-vision version of what gamers can expect, another interesting aspect of Dauntless gameplay is revealed. The narrator, and extended combat scenes, elude to the idea that the ability to take one behemoth down lies within another.

At the beginning of the video, which can be seen above, four players team up to take down an Embermane. After utilizing its parts to create fire-based armor and weapons capable enough, they use it to take down the Skraev that wields the element of ice. So, it’s safe to assume that a behemoth’s elements and physical attributes play a big part in the effectiveness of slaying them, in conjunction with the use of aether – a vital element within the world of Dauntless.

In the shattered isles, nothing is given. If you’re going to slay a behemoth, you’ll need to become something savage too. If one is to survive, power must be taken. And the smiths of Ramsgate, will forge raw power into legend! Take up your blade, slayer! And fight ice with fire!”

The “hub city” Ramsgate is very rustic in overall design, wood and stone taking up the theme of most shops even though it’s a floating island surrounded by other much smaller ones. In order to get around, players must use air boats and, probably, a variety of other mounts or transportation methods. Furthermore, “Forging a Legend” provides a first-look at a never before-seen class called Chain Blades. Consisting of “short range combinations and longer range poke”, it’s a bit different in combat style than the others seen before.
