Final Fantasy VII Remake Development Progress Revealed In New Job Listing

Final Fantasy VII Remake Development Progress

Square Enix has done a remarkable job in recent years of keeping the development progress on games within its key franchises under wraps. Both Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 were both at some points thought to be completely shelved, though obviously FFXV is alive and kicking and KH3 is finally being given the attention it deserves. Next up on the list is that of the Final Fantasy VII Remake development, whose progress has seldom been revealed outside of closed circles and the special 30th Anniversary Exhibition that took place earlier this year. Now, thanks to a new job listing posted by Square Enix, we finally have a solid idea of how far along the Final Fantasy VII Remake development has gotten.

The update on the Final Fantasy VII development progress comes by way of a job listing that was translated by the folks over at SiliconEra, and it reveals that while the game is making strides towards reaching a “satisfactory standard,” an increase in quality is still needed. “While Final Fantasy VII Remake’s programs for general functions and content are being tested within the development team as required,” the listing reads, “the part about reproducing the original work in high quality graphics is reaching a satisfactory standard, and we’ve come to the conclusion that in order to meet fan expectations we must increase its quality another step higher.”

Therefore, in addition to the current members for the Final Fantasy VII Remake development, we must establish a core group that includes level planners, battle planners, designers, engineers, and various types of jobs to tackle on the production of the big title.”

After the intro by Square Enix the job listing reveals some of the requirements needed from potential candidates:

“As the level planner, you’ll organize the workflow of location development, brainstorm level designs for each location, and implement data using Unreal Engine 4.”

  • A major project of fully remaking Final Fantasy VII on PlayStation 4.

  • Gain experience in a flat organization, use your talents to your heart’s content.
  • Recruiting core members for the project!
