Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII Remake Faces Another Delay

Information about Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII have been relatively quiet on Square Enix’ end, especially since E3 is coming up in just a few short weeks. With the big question being – will there be anything to reveal about the two projects this year? Unfortunately, it may fare on the end of disappointing news. According to Square Enix president, Yosuke Matsuda, it was announced that there will be yet another delay.

As detailed in an outline of SE’s financial briefing for the end of their fiscal year, there is a lot on their plate throughout 2017 and beyond including an untitled Marvel IP (intellectual property), Dragon Quest XI, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, and more.In a statement, Matsuda claims that there are plans for the release of to be determined titles in the next three years. It’s not surprising that the two most anticipated games are quite a ways from being complete.

This slide shows our release lineup for FY2017/3 as well as for FY2018/3 and beyond,” said Matsuda. “We plan to launch each of these upcoming titles in the next three years or so.”

However, there is a silver lining! It is relatively safe to say that the Final Fantasy VII remake and Kingdom Hearts 3 will be out sometime by the end of 2020 and possibly even earlier than that. Neither have a confirmed release date and, as a matter of fact, there’s isn’t a tentative time frame either. However, this gives fans a little time to grieve and settle their hearts. When they do come out, there will be lots of cheer and excitement – that’s for sure.
