Elden Ring Release Date Revealed With Stunning New Trailer (VIDEO)

Summer Game Fest 2021 kicked off today with plenty of zest in zeal, with host Geoff Keighley going from world premieres to a live performance as well as a lovely chat with Giancarlo Esposito during the proceedings. Towards the end of the presentation, Keighley became overcome with giddiness (moreso than usual) as he revealed a brand new trailer for Elden Ring, confirming once again that the game does, in fact, exist.

The first few moments of the new Elden Ring seemed decidedly Dark Souls-y in nature, enough so that I was initially rocking back and forth whilst chanting “Dark Souls 4, Dark Souls 4, Dark Souls 4,” before seeing George R. R. Martin’s name on the screen and remembering that Elden Ring is a thing. Moving right along, the trailer once again confirms that the collaborative title between the Game of Thrones author and FromSoftware is very much an open-world Souls-like, providing players with some lovely eye candy while still rooting the gameplay firmly in a traditional souls-like. Check out the trailer below:

While the new trailer is certainly exciting enough on its own, it goes above and beyond by also offering fans an official release date. The final moments of the trailer reveal that the game’s release date is January 21, 2022. The end screen also confirms that the title will be releasing on PC as well as current and last-gen consoles, so no gamers are being left out in the cold (unless all you have is a Nintendo Switch).

Elden Ring officially releases on January 21, 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
