Brandon Sanderson Has A Soulsborne Pitch For Elden Ring’s Publisher
Brandon Sanderson is riding quite the high at the moment, with the fantasy writer recently hitting the impressive milestone of having the most crowdfunded Kickstarter campaign of all time. Not one to rest on his laurels for long, Sanderson recently revealed that Elden Ring publisher Bandai Namco reached out to him for a potential collaboration, and the writer already has a Soulsborne pitch in mind.
During a live stream, Brandon Sanderson unboxed a sizeable package he received from Elden Ring publisher Bandai Namco that contained a sword, cloak, and other assorted merch from the recently released FromSoftware title. The publisher also included a note to Sanderson expressing an interest in working with the writer. “They are interested in perhaps doing something together, is what that says,” Sanderson revealed. “I am as well, actually.”
This is how I roll: I actually have a pitch for them in the back of my head… so I may have to send them my pitch and see what they think.”
It deserves noting that, last year, Brandon Sanderson stated that he should have been the one Bandai Namco had approached to do the world building rather than George R. R. Martin. “From Software decides to make a fantasy game and partner with a fantasy novelist, right?”, Sanderson mused. “And they choose someone who spends his days blogging about the NFL, rather than the person who has played their games since King’s Field, and has listed their games among his top 10 consistently over time?”
What are you thinking, people? If you don’t know, they went to George, and made a game with George, and I’m like, George doesn’t play video games. George has no idea. So anyway, there you go.”
Brandon Sanderson may have missed his chance to work on Elden Ring, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be able to work on a Soulsborne title in the future. After all, FromSoftware won’t stop making difficult games any time soon.
