Dragon Ball FighterZ: Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta Revealed As Final Season 3 DLC (VIDEO)
Though the majority of the game’s Season 3 roster arrived in particularly sporadic fashion (a fact undoubtedly owed to the COVID-19 pandemic), a new Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC was finally announced this week, confirming Dragon Ball GT alumni Baby Vegeta as the next playable fighter. Though the initial reveal was a bit on the low-key side, at least for those of us in the west, Bandai Namco has now shown off a proper in-game look for the aforementioned Baby alongside another surprising fighter announcement.
Seen in a new trailer, Baby’s parasitic form of Vegeta can be seen sporting an immensely powerful moveset, with many of the showcased attacks giving the likes of Super Saiyan 4 Goku a run for his money. Similarly to the GT anime, Baby notably has the unique ability to possess fallen opponents and summon them as minions on the battlefield. While we also get a peek at the character’s ultimate Revenge Death Ball attack, the biggest callback to the character was none other than Baby’s beastly Golden Great Ape transformation–a Super Saiyan version of the traditional Giant Ape form, in case you were wondering. The footage ends with an exciting release date reveal for the DLC: January 15th, 2021.
While most announcements tent to end with such a spectacular showcase, the recent Dragon Ball FighterZ National Championships prompted even greater plans as one last fighter was officially confirmed for the game. Adding another familiar face from Dragon Ball GT, Bandai Namco also named Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta as an additional upcoming DLC character slated to arrive sometime “soon.” This furry red fusion fills the final spot in the game’s season-long FighterZ Pass 3, which has so-far yielded such prominent combatants as the female Saiyan fusion Kefla, Goku’s Ultra Instinct transformation, as well as the Turtle Hermit himself Master Roshi.
This isn’t the first Goku-Vegeta fusion in Dragon Ball FighterZ, nor is it the only version of Gogeta in the vibrant fighting game. However, as with Broly before him, Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta represents an entirely different version of the being, complete with separate moves as well as a noticeably more wild hairstyle. Up until the debut of Dragon Ball Super, this particular fighter was regarded as one of the most powerful beings in all of Dragon Ball canon and for that reason, the fusion carries a significant fanbase in the DB community. Though Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta never fought Baby Vegeta in the anime (that was Omega Shenron), this decision is likely to go over well with fans considering there was only a single character spot left in Season 3.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
What do you think? Are you excited to see Baby Vegeta added to Dragon Ball FighterZ, or are you more hyped that Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta is set to join the roster? Would you have preferred if an unassuming GT character like Pan, Giru, or Mustache Vegeta was added instead?
