Destiny Servers to Go Offline Next Week for Maintenance

Next week, Bungie will be performing a routine maintenance and upkeep, but that also means Destiny servers will be offline for a period of time. According to the official Bungie announcement, they will go down beginning Wednesday, May 17th at 10 AM (PST)/5 PM (UTC) and will be expected to go on for four hours ending at 2 PM (PST)/9 PM (UTC). Believe it or not, this means players will not be able to access Destiny servers at all and certain features that accompany the game will be offline as well. Furthermore, no new content will be presented or introduced either.

Destiny Servers Maintenance and Downtime

  • Date: Wednesday, May 17
  • Start: 10AM Pacific (5 PM UTC)
  • Expected completion: 2PM Pacific (9 PM UTC)

In other related news, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg stated that the upcoming sequel will have “meaningful features” and a “steady stream of content”. Understanding the largely critiqued aspects of the current game, the development and publishing team want to go above and beyond and meet as many expectations as possible. Seeing as the franchise will be coming to PC for the very first time with Destiny 2, it will be interesting to see how much or less attention this platform will receive. Despite critical feedback from the gaming community, many are excited for the next installment, but there may be a fair share of cautiousness and doubt. However, before E3 comes around, there will be a livestream coming up the day after the schedule maintenance above that will give fans a deeper look into PC gameplay for number 2!
