Ubisoft Pass Premium Service Seemingly Leaks Online

Though hardware remains an undeniable focus for gaming’s next generation, digital services have had a notable rise in recent years and seem to have an even bigger future ahead of them. Services such as game streaming and free monthly freebies have graced the likes of console and PC alike though companies like Microsoft, Nintendo, and Electronic Arts. However, it appears that another publisher is looking to enter the arena by the looks of a “Ubisoft Pass” that recently found its way online.

Discovered by sleuths over on ResetEra, a placeholder listing briefly appeared on the Ubisoft Store offering something called “Ubisoft Pass Premium.” The store appearance didn’t come paired with any substantial details or images, but the name alone was enough to spark some healthy speculation from forum members; the consensus immediately landing on the possibility of a Ubisoft subscription service.

As quickly as the listing went up, any mention of the supposed Ubisoft Pass has since been quietly removed, but questions still remain regarding the possibility of this subscription service. When it comes to content, Ubisoft would certainly have the library to fill such an endeavor, featuring several solid franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Rayman, and Tom Clancy. If this subscription indeed comes to Pass, one has to wonder what Ubisoft could have to offer, potentially taking the lead from the numerous gaming services already on the market.

Though there’s practically nothing to go on when it comes to finer details, the naming scheme in the aforementioned leak could suggest Ubisoft has a tiered subscription system in mind, with “Premium” being one of several options. This potential approach would be in similar style to EA’s Origin, which offers greater deals for those subscribed to their top Premiere tier. Ubisoft Pass Premium could very well be something of that sort, but a simple listing isn’t nearly enough to take any of this speculation as fact. It’s likely we’ll find out more about this potential service as we approach E3 2019 in a few weeks’ time.

What do you think? Would you be up for a Ubisoft subscription service, or do you think this listing could refer to something else entirely?
